Our beloved Sakin (pronounced saw-keen; a Turkish name translated as calm in English), was in our Family for 14+ years. He truly lived up to his name as Calm …  

We experienced so many lovely memories with Sakin in our Home. He, along with all of our children and Summer, was a cherished addition to our Family. Born into a difficult environment from the start of his Life, we rescued him from a dog shelter in Turkey and brought him back to Canada, where he was truly a cherished addition to our Family. 

Living up to his name, he was always calm, no matter how much he was poked and prodded. If annoyed, just simply walked away and found a spot to plop down. In his early years, he would be found playing outside often - chasing after squirrels, the occasional encounter with a skunk, and meeting many, many other dog-friends along his dog-journey. 

We unfortunately had to reach the inevitable stage of letting our beloved Sakin go and a clinic we found was nothing short of incredible! (Cobblestone Animal Hospital. Paris, Ontario. cobblestoneanimalhospital.ca). 

From the welcome at the desk, to being led into a calming and serene room, the technician who described our options so graciously, to the veterinarian who was incredibly kind and went as far as to share their own journey of letting their own beloved dog go … which gave my wife and I the ability to feel both heard and understood - giving us the ability to grieve and reflect and, with no rush, (complete with a ‘call bell’ to communicate when we were ready to let him go) … 

Our beloved Sakin had a good Life, and had a blessed close to his Life! He unfortunately breathed his last and entered into eternity July 12, 2024. He will be forever missed and loved. 

Grieving the loss of a cherished Family Dog is extremely unique. We’re here to listen. The best thing you can do is speak about your pain and loss … this helps you carry them in your heart and cherish the memories with your loved-ones who are experiencing many of the same loss you are. We are firm believers that the connection with a cherished Family Dog is extremely unique and something that should be shared with many! 

We will dearly miss our dear Sakin!
